Humidifier Disguises Itself as a Vase
Ah. But no more. Japan’s D-Design has created a line of humidifiers I’d actually want in my living room or bedroom. Truth be told, I really, really wish I had one in my hotel room right now.
Two styles — the tall, slender Allonge and curvy Middle — are styled like vases. You could easily put one in a corner or on a tabletop and it would look to all the world like an artistic accoutrement. Both use ultrasonic vibrations to turn the water stored in the tank to vapor. The technology means even a small device can humidify 100 square feet.
The Middle comes in two sizes, a .8-liter capacity small and a 1.8-liter capacity medium. The Allonge holds 3-liters.
D-Design also showcased a few hybrid humidifier styles, which come in more decorative shapes like a minimalist twig and leaf growing out of a pot (the Rocca also is available as an ultrasonic humidifier). Hybrid humidifiers heat water to 140 degrees Fahrenheit to kill bacteria before ultrasonic vibrations start creating vapor. This is said to make the mist more sanitary. The Rocca is available in 1.8-liter and .8-liter sizes.
I like to hunt and gather treasure ... something old, well used and loved. I find things that tell a story, have a history, are unique and sometimes a bit 'weird. I find beauty in unexpected places. I love Australia, modern design, vintage tea towels, linen and faded old concrete pots, but I also love the things they have an advantage as well as industrial much.I find my treasures in op-shops, swap meets, garage sales, school holidays and on the side of the road. I never spend much money, but I always have a lot of fun and I'm thrilled to bits when I find something special.

By Joe Rosson A chip on the rim of this Rookwood Pottery vase reduces its value to collectors. I have a 15 inch tall Rookwood pottery vase that I would like to know more about. It has the standard "RP" mark on the back with the flames surrounding it
In many ways, Narai is simultaneously what Japan was, and how it remembers what it used to be. It was late November the first time I visited, years ago now. We pulled off the National Route 19 that loosely follows the Edo Period highway,

I had a few ideas for today's photo but they didn't work out as I thought, so here's a late alternative, one of my guitars. Not the most ordinary guitar though, it's an Ibanez Blazer, made in 1981 and long since out of production. It had spent years in the loft of my mum's friend, broken,...
