Learn about the art of bonsai

Internationally renowned landscape and penjing artist Hal Mahoney will speak at the monthly meeting of the Bonsai Society of Southwest Florida. Bonsai is the horticultural art of growing trees in pots that originated in China and Japan. Information about bonsai and the association will be available at the meeting.

The Naples Native Plant Society will present a lecture by George J. Wilder, Ph.D. entitled "The Biology of Carnivorous Plants." Wilder will discuss the diverse aspects of carnivorous plants, including their classification, ecology and the various methods of digestion and absorption of the digestive products of prey animals. He will present color photographs of the primary types of carnivorous plants. Tickets for the NNPS banquet on Feb. 24 will be available for purchase.
