Over one lakh visit flower show
The Republic Day Flower Show at the Lal Bagh here saw over one lakh enthusiasts visiting the event on Sunday even as the visitors were treated to a classical musical rendition in the evening.
Being a holiday, Sunday usually attracts more number of people, and the authorities concerned made necessary arrangements to accommodate the swelling crowd. More than 25,000 music lovers savoured the rendition by Muthu Krishna and Udupuram at the Band Stand.
Nirupama Srinivas, one of the visitors, said, “The flower show this year has been witnessing a large number of people. It was difficult to find a parking slot even as we were driven from one gate to another.”
Even as people were enjoying the show, many of them were flocking M.H. Mari Gowda Hall where the Ikebana show was organised. Many Ikebana artists put on display a variety of their creative work.
Berin Lucas, a professor from St. Joseph's Arts and Science College, who had come along with her daughter to the show, said that she has been a regular visitor to flower shows, particularly Ikebana show, twice every year. She said, “This year there is a lot of detailing in the work, information and material available when it comes to bonsai and flower art.”
